So James got permission to sneak the man a six-pack and drank it with him, while chatting and watching cricket on TV. If you're getting the sneaking sense that it's time to get a box of tissues ready, we'd go with that instinct. For instance, even if your heart quietly stops in the middle of the night, God forbid you don't have a DNR agreement signed.

A variation on a crossword puzzle book or an art supply kit, an adult coloring book and some nice colored pencils can keep your loved one creatively challenged. Choose the complexity of the coloring book with any motor challenges in mind. If your parent, grandparent, or older friend or relative is struggling with manual dexterity, a simpler coloring book can help keep her from getting frustrated. Many nursing homes have art therapy as part of their regular programming, but even so, your loved one may not get enough of this creative time.

Homemade Gifts for Nursing Home Residents

This process should be fairly easy to navigate with the assistance of one’s state Medicaid agency. One would think that getting a Medicaid-eligible, aging parent, spouse, or other loved one into a nursing home would be a relatively easy process. However, due to the nuances of Medicaid acceptance and the complexities of nursing home law, it is not a simple, nor a fast process. Multiples issues can combine to make the process even more challenging, such as the limited availability of “Medicaid beds” in nursing homes. Taking on an elder is a lot of responsibility.

Hello dear Jackie, What a nice gift for your mom - a cuddly soft baby doll. Of course it matters when they are unable to vocalize or remember the names of their children. That is tragic and sad for us and for them in their private moments of reality.

I'm sure your visits were the highlight of her days as I'm told that often by my Mother and her sister. They make me feel so special whenever I'm there. Your Mum sounds like a lovely person who really loved Christmas. I'm so sorry for your loss and I know it's especially difficult this time of the year.

I'm still struggling with letting go of some of Mom's and Louise's things as they bring back cherished memories. The best gift a family would give to their mother or father in a Nursing home is to give a little of their time by visiting them whenever they can. Time spent with their parents is very precious because their parents won't be there always and I am sure they will appreciate it very much. That's a thoughtful way to assist those who can no longer take care of things as detailed and tedious as writing out holiday cards. Some of the most appreciated gifts include personal attention that you can do during your visit.

In the end, she wouldn't talk too much except to say "oh, I love you, I do" while shuffling around the unit. They had to turn her every few hours so she wouldn't develop bedsores, but she'd be staring in one direction for about two hours at a time. Looking at a blank green wall while you're dying is a bit depressing, so James cut out some flowers from magazines and stuck them to the walls so she would have something comforting to look at. Elderspeak is when young people talk to old people as if they're kindergartners. ("Oh, that's great, sweetie! You cleaned your whole plate! I'm so proud!") And boy oh boy do seniors hate that shit. Probably because -- and we're just spitballing here -- they're the precise opposite of kindergartners.

Pick up a bottle of pretty polish at your local drug store and stop by the care home to apply it. You can chat or just sit together as you paint her nails, and she'll be excited about the new shade.

The celebration continues by performing traditional folk dance of Bhangra and Gidda and also by attending Baisakhi fairs. On this day, in the year 1699, Guru Gobind Singh Ji arranged the order of the Khalsa. Baisakhi festival is celebrated by the whole Sikh community by participating in numerous cultural activities, Baisakhi processions and fairs. Most people are expected to bring material gifts, but it would be unusual if one of them offers to cater for the couple’s honeymoon trip to some classy destination they didn’t even think they could visit one day. Apart from the sweets and fruits, it is also the right opportunity to give your clothing or jewelry gifts to the groom. You can also give these gifts to the groom during the Sagan ceremony.

A beautiful tray of tasty and healthy dry fruits can bring smile on the face of your loved ones on this Baisakhi. Looking forward to send some gifts to India on the auspicious occasion of Baisakhi? Well, what better option will be than a box of delicious sweets? Sending preserved mithais or a huge pack of yummy chocolates to your loved ones is a fantastic idea to make the celebration more grand.

It is, therefore, essential to understand the significance of his doing the most uncommon act of living for 240 years. He well understood the foibles, the weaknesses, and the perversities of human nature.

Fable & Main’sHoliRoots Hair Oilis a cult favorite, in large part because people love its incredible scent. The brand created a limited edition candle made with the same fresh, floral jasmine sambac and champaca notes as their signature hair oil, that evokes temple offerings and which can be used as part of a meditation ritual. Similarly, sharing of production and wealth is the sixth value or a corollary of leading a life of love. Guru Nanak, as is shown by the story of Malik Bhago and Lallo, was against exploitation of the weak and accumulation of wealth. That’s why there are weddings where they politely request the guests to bring no gift other than money. Unwanted material gifts will only have value to the couple if they exchange them for money.

For almost a millennium, the North-West of India had become an open gate through which wave after wave of invaders came, for plunder of treasures and taking away slaves. It is the Sikh society that succeeded in, once and for all, sealing that gate and bringing about peace in the land. Under the later Moghal administration Sikhs were sought to be destroyed to a man, and a price was put on every Sikh head.

After the long days of preparing for the wedding, having it and then bracing the post-wedding ceremonies, the couple is no need physically and mentally drained. You can surprise them with tickets to a classy spa for spa sessions for both of them after they are done with the post-wedding rituals. The Fourth gift of Guru Nanak is indeed, unique and can never be equalled. It is a theological concept which stands stated by the Gurus and the Guru Granth. Though the spiritual ideology was completely laid down by Guru Nanak, yet human frailties being unlimited and the game of love. As envisaged by the Guru, being a most perilous spiritual path, which could exhaust the energies of even the brave and the spiritually committed, the Gurus wanted to tell us how to live a truly religious life in accordance with the Will of God.

Your money should be in a well-decorated envelope, and whatever amount of money you give should end with 1. Of course, you have to plan for this kind of gift well, even if in secrecy. If you have the means and can afford to be generous without breaking the bank, it is no waste if you sponsor these lovebirds to their dream destination for the honeymoon. Let your gift be in the form of airplane tickets to a romantic destination where they will explore new cultures or places. If she is not the heels type, you can buy some traditional slippers or whichever shoes she is likely to enjoy having.

The giving and receiving of gifts is one tradition that cuts across every culture or society. I am yet to hear of a community that does not like giving or receiving gifts. I would say every human being loves gifts because gifts show us that we are loved and valued.

Hence, bestowing nice heels upon her will make her genuinely happy. You should consider ornaments for the bride because women love ornaments more than men do. Do not turn up to a Sikh wedding empty-handed if you respect yourself and wish to be respected. The question is the appropriate gifts, not whether you should or shouldn’t bring gifts. I think this clarification is necessary because some “experts” have created an impression that gifts are not significant at a Sikh wedding. Remember also that there are several ceremonies in the Sikh wedding process so your gift should be relevant to the particular wedding ceremony you are attending. Members of the Sikh Vand Ke Chako youth organization unload gifts at the St. Jude House in Crown Point Thursday.

For, no dispute can now be raised about the ideology of the Guru. The Guru has not only embodied it in a volume, but has also given it the status of Guru, and in fact, of the "Revelation of God" or "Dhurki-Bani". The most important result of this unparalleled gift is that we have not only an authentic and comprehensive Scripture, but it is also a touch-stone to test the veracity of any other writing, system, view, value, principle or idea.

This super-luxe 10-piece bar tool set, which comes with a bamboo stand to hold all the pieces when not in use, is perfect for the aspiring home mixologist. While gifts of gold are traditional, there are lots of ways to flip tradition on its head when it comes to selecting Diwali presents, like these gold-accented Stan Smiths. If you’ll be attending a Diwali party, packing homemade (or store bought, we won’t tell) sweets in a pretty gold serving bowl is a pretty way to elevate a gift of food.

Laddu, or laddoo, are balls made of flour, sugar and ghee that sometimes include nuts or dried fruits. Gazal Kothari’s interest in handcrafted jewelry led her to start her own line of fashion jewelry, called Hyperbole Accessories, which features jewelry like these pink lotus earrings, hand-painted by artisans in India. Diwali, which is also called Divali or Deepavali, is one of the major holidays in India, celebrated by Hindus, Sikhs, Jains and Buddhists. It is a festival of lights, symbolizing the victory of light over darkness, that typically is celebrated over five days. THE dedication of ten students has resulted in more than 1,000 food items being donated to help people in need this Christmas.

Lighting small candles and tealights is a popular way for households to decorate during Diwali. This set of henna-decorated floating candles is a lovely hostess gift to give to someone who is hosting a Diwali feast or party. For people who like it hot, a sampler of spiced nuts is a great gift idea. This gift set includes barbecue peanuts, buffalo hot peanuts, everything-seasoned mixed nuts, honey sriracha almonds, sweet ‘n spicy snack mix and traditional mixed nuts.

Planning a Sikh Wedding was set up to provide quality information about all the aspects of a Sikh wedding, with highly informative articles. Planning a Sikh wedding is critical to ensuring the wedding goes as planned with many ceremonies now taking place over a number of days. They are not an end to themselves, but a means to an end, which is showering the couple with love and sharing in their happiness. Even if you are a marriage counselor, even if you believe the marriage is not going to work, kindly do not give a book about how to achieve a successful marriage, etc. It isn’t polite, especially if the marriage fails in the near future.

What turns a couple on in the USA may not play the same trick on a couple in India’s rural parts. Again, it could be that a Sikh couple living in the USA would be much grateful if you brought them traditional Indian dresses straight from India as their wedding gifts. It is more convenient and perhaps the oldest form of gift in the Sikh wedding traditions.

For that reason, you should be careful what kind of what you give as gifts. Honeymoon away from home gives them the time they need to be together and rest from the endless Sikh ceremonies that they have endured to get married. Silk bedcovers, customized pillows with the names of the bride and groom written on them, or identical pajamas are some of the gifts you can consider. It can also be a picture of some landmark or landscape in your city.

The second uncommon gift of Guru Nanak is the laying down of a complete ideology. Abstractions of philosophers apart, no prophet has indicated and comphasized the principles and values of his system with greater completeness, detail, logic, and clarity, than Guru Nanak. I have read no one has had any problems receiving their money back. Before I joined the site, I had already seen lots of reviews on how amazing and incredible their services were but I could not trust some of these reviews. I decided to register with them so I could see first-hand what the site was all about and if it was worth investing in.

The exact number has dipped a little on our most recent check – but this is likely reflective of nothing more than people being on holiday over the summer. It doesn’t take long to find plenty of FlexJobs reviews online. The vast majority of customer reviews on sites like Sitejabber and Trustpilot are very positive.

FlexJobs Review: Deep Dive

We mainly use this for invoice generate for our financial clients. The good thing is it's very easy-to-use and we can use this on mobile phone also. I love this app because it allows me to create invoices and estimates for my clients and submit via e-mail immediately. It makes it easy to upload photos and create a more personalized estimate for each client, which mean more business and growth.

By making use of the considerable range of advanced search parameters, you can drill down to the exact kind of job you’re looking for. It’s important to understand that FlexJobs is a site for flexible jobs of all kinds. I’ve seen some reviewers look at it purely from a freelancer’s perspective, which is rather missing the point. I’m pretty sure there aren’t any other online job boards with quite such a stellar reputation. They are generally those who object to the general principle of paying any kind of subscription fee. It’s easy to find online praise from those who’ve found the perfect flexible job as a result of signing up.

Find a full list of the job categories here.

FlexJobs also offers a few career coaching options on a one-to-one basis. You can pay for coaching time, resume reviews, or even mock interviews. There are some free courses included with FlexJobs membership, delivered via LinkedIn Learning, and broken down into subjects like building a flexible career and finding remote jobs. Users can customize the quotes to include logos, photos, marketing collateral, drop-down menus. Quotes can be printed via a Bluetooth printer and can be emailed to the customer directly.

This is probably the main reason why most people are afraid to sign up with. The reason of charging a membership fee is because it is an online recruiting service, therefore it does not collect advertising fees from employers. With one of the best invoicing apps on the market, creating an invoice with standard invoice and payment terms is a no brainer. With the estimating app for JobFLEX your contract terms are included within your estimates. You can use the default contract terms in the app or modify the contract terms to fit the needs of your industry.

July 27, 2022 by Ben Taylor, Updated December 6, 2022

Increase your chances of online job search success with in-depth expert resources, events, and virtual job fairs. "You guys are awesome! Keep changing the world, one remote job at a time . You truly helped my life and opened new doors I didn't know existed." One thing it’s important to remember about FlexJobs, and indeed any job board, is that you may not find your dream job on the first day you look. However, you never know if it may be posted the next day, week or month. There’s also regular free coaching available in live Q&A / webinar format. This is one of those features that illustrates that the value of a FlexJobs membership is higher if you’re willing to put some time and effort in.

While I was searching, I did find some listings going back months rather than weeks. Out of date job listings are something people seem to complain about with every job board. It’s almost inevitable that you’ll find some on FlexJobs too.

Most importantly, they’ve finally got around to removing the ones for out of date software packages. In addition, there’s also a large library of free “soft skills” courses, delivered in partnership with PAIRIN. These cover subjects such as assertiveness, decision making and dynamism. FlexJobs prominently shows how many jobs are on offer at one time – it typically hovers around the 30,000 mark.

Our estimating app for contractors also allows you to create package pricing for your customers by offering different options or bundles of services. This feature can help a contractor make more money because no matter how many jobs you do or invoices you generate it’s all about trying to make a profit. With the JobFLEX estimating app your estimates will help you get paid faster if you include contract terms with required down payments. You can set up your default quote template in JobFLEX to require down payments to help with your cash outlay for materials or subcontractors.

Set up is simple with an invoice template to add your company name, contact information, and logo. After that quick set up you are ready to create an estimate or invoice on the go from anywhere. Using JobFLEX has allowed us to reduce time spent in the office generating estimates by 85%, allowing my sales staff to sell more, close deals faster and increase revenues by 15%. Paperless project files, digital tracking, scheduling and reporting features make it easy for me to have visibility into the sales pipeline. Like I pointed out earlier, some of the job offers you can find are telecommuting jobs, part-time jobs, freelancing jobs and flexible jobs. All these jobs have been screened for legitimacy, to save you time and stress. Signing up to FlexJobs could result in you finding the perfect flexible job to suit your lifestyle. However, it’s not a “magic bullet” that will land that job in your lap without any work on your part.

Our fantastic in-house career coaches specialize in remote and flexible job search guidance! More and more companies are going 100% remote nowadays, and are increasingly willing to hire across borders. It IS fair to say that US residents will find more to choose from, but it’s still perfectly possible to find a remote job on FlexJobs if you live elsewhere.

The jobs come from various sources including company websites and employment agencies, and are “hand-screened” before being listed on the site. Very professional layout and love how you can add pictures to a bid, that sets me apart with my customers. I would give a perfect rating if I could slap together an invoice as quickly as a quote at the end of a job.

The “Learning Center,” especially, really does provide a lot of useful content. Every time I update this FlexJobs review, I have a good look at what kind of jobs are available. The “Find Jobs” section allows you use a search box to search by keyword, title or job category.

One thing I do think FlexJobs deserves a whole lot of credit for is its extensive selection of company guides. While I’ve not put these coaching services to the test as part of my review, the value here is good. For just $64 you can get a 30 minute private call focusing on whatever you like. There have been some improvements made to the skills tests since my last FlexJobs review update.

For those who don’t want to read a detailed review, I can confirm that FlexJobs IS worth it, so long as you understand what you’re getting for the subscription fee. Once you are in, you must input information about your skills and experience. Once your profile goes public, you are ready to start searching for jobs.

Part-time jobs.

It is definitely worth paying for FlexJobs IF you’re willing to put some effort into searching all of the available roles. We’ve also noticed a drop in the number of freelance opportunities on our two latest checks. We shall certainly keep an eye on this throughout the year, and update the review further should the proposition for freelancers seem to change. Jobs-wise, things seem relatively static in terms of available opportunities, with the total number of listed jobs still hovering around the 30,000 mark.

However, it’s a highly credible remote job site with lots of remote work opportunities to work through. The training resources and courses could also help you to justify the cost of the subscription. Last time I updated this review of FlexJobs, I was very impressed to find both email addresses and phone numbers for team members. Firstly, most people will already have a resume set up exactly as they want it, probably as a PDF file ready to email out to potential employers with a cover letter. Furthermore, the vast majority of the jobs on the platform have their own application processes. As such, they don’t integrate with FlexJobs’ resume platform.

The truth is this, no newspaper or billboard will advise work at home opportunities on their pages and this is because most work at home opportunities can only be found online. Providing the correct due date is critical to ensuring that you get paid on time. You can leverage exclusive hiring information on over 50,000 companies to help find the right employer, culture, and job–faster and easier.

FlexJobs does offer the kind of flexible job opportunities people are looking for, complied by a firm with a very strong reputation among its customers. FlexJobs also has an A+ rating from the Better Business Bureau. FlexJobs is legit, and could be where you find a remote job offer, or your next freelance gig.

Like most chargeable job search services, FlexJobs bolts on several supplementary features to justify the small cost. These include online “resume profiles,” skills tests, and access to a huge amount of helpful content, including training videos and tutorials – more on all that below. FlexJobs is a name that’s almost certain to appear on your radar when you’re searching online for home based and flexible jobs.

The Customer Management tool helps users organize sales, leads and opportunities. As appointments are scheduled, a member of a team can be assigned to connect with the potential customer to go through the entire sales process. The file manager creates a new file each time a new project is added and attaches all relevant files, photographs and documents to the project.

Telephone support is on offer from 9am – 6pm MT, and there’s also a live chat facility. A customer services representative could expect a median wage of $14.63 per hour. (I’d personally rather spend the time completing a course on Coursera or somewhere similar, where you can get an accreditation from a known university or company). Once again, you can get a lot of value out of your FlexJobs subscription if you take full advantage of these courses.
